LISTEN: Barrel & Biscuit debut their first single “Tooth & Nail”

Hip Hop borrows from and contributes to nearly every genre of music. Sometimes by simplifying complex works and creating pop masterpieces, sometimes by creating sounds that we’ve simply never heard before. Then there are artists like Kanye West, Pharell Williams, and Andre 3000 who push the boundaries of what we consider hip hop. Brand new hip hop duo Barrel & Biscuit fits into that category.  They push back against and challenge hip hop, just to see what they can get away with.

On this, the very first single off of their forthcoming EP, Rmllw2llz (pronounced Romell with 2 L’s) and Kendall Elijah Dynamite come out with a bang. “Tooth & Nail” has an infectious hook reminiscent of Motown sung by Kendall, while Rmllw2llz simply comes on the track to spit hot fire as he always does. The music for this track feels heavily influenced by some classic blues, and while there are many influences that are ever present, the song as a whole has a raw punk rock vibe. This is certainly a sign of great things to come from Barrel & Biscuit in the future.
