Despite local and national pundits predicting an uphill battle for Louisville’s new basketball coach, everything continues to go well for Chris Mack. Despite the awful situation that Rick Pitino left the program in, Mack has managed to put together not just a decent 2019 class, but one of the best in the country currently ranking at #4 (and rising). Mack’s latest slam dunk on the recruiting trail is the commitment from Rockwall, Texas small forward/shooting guard hybrid Samuell Williamson who currently ranks 44th according to 247Sports and was heavily recruited by other big name programs like Kansas, Michigan and Ohio State. At 6 feet 6 inches tall, he’s been compared to Jayson Tatum as he’s been noted for his superb finishing ability at the rim as well as his mid range and three point shooting.
As someone that doesn’t pay too much attention to the actual process of recruiting, when a player does actually commit I enjoy the process of getting acquainted with said player, whether it be watching highlight videos or reading press clippings with box scores and quotes. Speaking of highlight videos, get to know Louisville’s newest addition by watching a pair of recent compilations below.
