Peep the latest and greatest from the Bird Zoo family, released a bit back while I was on vacation (followed by tending to sick kiddos) with the newest solo joint from Jasun K. The vibe here is heavy lyrical, with Jasun spitting bars over ghostly beats, sparse at times with trap work or boom bap signature. It makes for an airy album, one that bobs and weaves between heavy bits, to allow the emcee (primarily just Jasun, although he is joined by his dudes in the Zoo) to go hard with his verses. His flow here is slow hand, never rushed and always featuring a quiet to his hustle, one undercut by an unnerving seethe that is hard to pinpoint, but impossible to miss once you lock in. There is a darkness to this music, from the minor key music to the narrative content, although there are a few bangers thrown in for good measure, the sort that demand you roll the window down and blast the speakers so you can freak out the fucking normals, albeit at night time; this is still heavy shit.
Listen below and bounce.
