That’s right, woodchuck chuckers, Louisville Is For Lovers Volume 13 is officially out, and is available now digitally and on CD here and locally at Better Days, Guestroom, and Matt Anthony’s Record Shop. The latest comp, titled Darlin Beloved boasts 22 all exclusive previously unreleased love songs from Louisville artists in a hand packaged, numbered edition of 300 direct from the Derby City: the hometown of Love itself! To celebrate, get your ass to Guestroom Records (1806 Frankort ave) tonight to witness in-store performances from Brenda and Frederick the Younger. The event is free and all ages and is supported by WCHQ 100.9FM, Lousiville’s all local station.
This might be the most solid collection of tunes that LIFL has put together as every damned song is a homerun in my opinion. Five tracks that I am especially drawn to include Future Killer‘s “I Was Young”, a warm track that reminds me of the softer side of Adrian Belew; KWIETA‘s “Own Light” is an otherworldly trip full of gorgeous synths and reverb soaked vocals; killii killii‘s “I Love You Don’t Eat Me” is a badass throwback that sounds like The Breeders if they used a lot of wahwah; Mother Runaway‘s “Hands and Knees” is a gorgeous tune with delicate guitar riffing that heavily showcases Savannah’s heavenly voice; and “Winter Coat” by Brenda, a catchy toetapper with all of the ooh-ahh’s that you can handle.
