Yesterday’s game against Purdue didn’t go quite as planned for Bobby Petrino and the Louisville Cardinals. Sure, they ended up victorious 35-28, but there were glaring weaknesses and problems that this coaching staff needs to fix immediately. The offensive line looks about the same as it did at the end of last season during that bogus three game losing streak, the running game is nonexistent, and the injury to Jaire Alexander is a major blow to the defense.
Having said that, Lamar Jackson was fucking brilliant making play after play to keep Louisville in the game despite the 12 false starts (damn, that’s a lot!!) and fumbling running backs. The reigning Heisman trophy winner put the team on his back while managing to rack up 485 yards of total offense (passed for 378, ran for 107) and two touchdown passes. Damn, son. It appears that Jackson’s sequel to last year’s unprecedented run has begun, and is off to a ridiculous start.

ALSO THIS: It’s also worth mentioning that highly touted freshman wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick (four catches, 95 yards, one touchdown) looked really good. So there’s that.
