Singer/songwriter Sheri Streeter has a new EP out now called Richer for the Grief which is currently streaming and available as a digital download on Bandcamp. Her latest effort spans 5 new songs that heavily showcase Streeter’s beautiful, sometimes fierce voice and warm acoustic guitar with a bit of decorative piano, atmospheric organ and auxiliary percussion to give each track a bit of added flavor.
Last year, when I asked her what sort of music she makes, Sheri told me “I write pretty songs for sad bastards and weirdos.” That sentiment is more than evident throughout Richer for the Grief as these tunes are indeed beautiful, but there are definitive undertones of sadness (“Home Videos”) and sometimes rage (“Crotch Crucifix”). My favorite might be the closing track “What the Little Girl Wants,” a spirited swashbuckling song that sways into a nice groove complimented with organ and bongos.
