Watch Donovan Mitchell put Jayson Tatum on skates in the NBA Summer League!

Unquestionably, it’s been a rough off season for Louisville Basketball fans. Not long after the season ended early against Michigan in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament, the program was hammered by the committee of infractions like a tent spike into the ground. But I don’t want to get into that right now, as fans Cardinal fans at last have something to smile about.

Former UofL standout and fan favorite Donovan Mitchell, who was selected 13th overall by the Utah Jazz has been turning a lot of heads in the NBA Summer League. Last night in particular has a lot of hoops fans talking, as he went one on one against former Duke star Jayson Tatum who was the 3rd pick overall by the Boston Celtics. As we’ve seen at Louisville the last two years, Mitchell relentlessly harassed Tatum who was held to just 4-12 shooting.

In the 4th quarter, things got heated between the two as Mitchell stripped Tatum for a potential breakaway dunk before getting fouled, leading to a tense stare down between the two:

Soon after, Donovan put Tatum on skates with a beautiful spin move and no look pass to Julian Wright who was cutting down the baseline for a nice dunk:

Sweet sassy molassy, that was nice. And Jazz fans are naturally eating this up, which seems natural considering they just lost star forward Gordon Hayward who bolted for the Celtics a few days ago.
