Over the weekend, new-ish hardcore band Mouth to Mouth released an 8-song demo serving as their recorded debut. I heard the band was selling physical copies at a show over the weekend, but I’m not sure if they will be selling them at record stores around town. Your best bet to attain one of these CDs is by attending their next show and visiting their merch table. If physical media ain’t your thing, the demo is currently streaming and available for purchase on their Bandcamp page.
While the music on this demo isn’t anything earth shattering, I will say that the brand of abrasive hardcore presented from Mouth to Mouth is certainly well constructed and and very well executed. While I appreciate their take on the classic blast-beat/breakdown/chuggachugga riff/breakdown formula, I’m especially digging on singer/guitarist Albie Mason’s growling tough guy vocals; his voice endearingly reminds me of a mashup of Ryan Patterson and that dude from Green Jelly. Hell yeah.
Sometimes you just need to put on a pair of headphones and carelessly blast your eardrums with some quality hardcore, and that’s what I’m doing right now thanks to the new noise from Mouth to Mouth. Listen to their demo below:
