LISTEN: Eons D & Jordan Jetson – “Inner Space”

Hip hop in Louisville continues to flourish as Eons D and Jordan Jetson have teamed up for a collaborative EP they’re calling Inner Space, and I’m here to tell you, this noise is fucking fantastic. I had no idea that this project was in the works, so it came to me as a blind-siding surprise that in my estimation is one of the finest collections of hip hop songs to ever come out of Louisville. The two emcees verbally glide over six killer beats that at times remind me of something you might here from Dynasty-era Jay-Z, but with a clever modern twist.

Also featured on this release are Otis Junior, Allen Poe, RMLLW2LLZ and 1200, and as you’d expect, each of them deliver the goods. What’s the message behind Inner Space? According to their Bandcamp page, this effort is “a collection of shit talkin’ songs about life, struggle, racism, foes, and capitalism.” Cool.

Inner Space is currently available for purchase as a digital download, but if physical media is your thing they will have CDs for sale at their release show this Saturday, August 6th at Galaxie (732 E. Market St). For more information on the event, go here.
