Add one more Christmas track to the pile: we’re reaching the point where there could be an all-Louisville original Christmas song comp, which would be both awesome and incredibly welcome. I wish we’d have caught this before Christmas, but I’m happy to report that it’s hard to keep up; what a great problem to have. So Dry Summers got one in under our radar, or so they had thought! I caught this on Christmas Day, but given that I had my requisite Holiday responsibilities, it wasn’t until just this morning that I was able to sit down and give this a listen, and boy am I glad that I did. With XMS, Dry Summers have kind of an early-Grizzly Bear vibe (Horn of Plenty is a fantastic), or even kind of a Norwegian Wood-esque Beatles feel, and it’s incredibly comforting like the Lydia Burrell Christmas track that came out earlier this month, albeit with less tension.
This feels like the sort of thing you’d want to listen to snuggled up in comfy flannel, sipping on something warm, and hanging out with folks that you like. Give it a whirl below and get merry, even though tis not the season any more.
