Here and there we’ve gotten hints at a larger body of work for Andrew Rinehart, and it would seem that we’re in store for a treat this Friday night as the erstwhile Louisvillian is finally dropping his full length “Nothing/Everything,” alongside guests Jaye Jayle and Wume at Haymarket Whiskey. In anticipation of the release, Rinehart has dropped “Gone to Hell,” a melancholic and shambling number that recalls the absolute best of Neil Young as filtered through the most delicate and fragile of The For Carnation numbers. Here again Rinehart illustrates his acumen as a songwriter, showing the kind of restraint developed after years of performing. This is a beautiful and sublime song, and (spoiler) a fair representation of what’s to come on the new album, which is a master class in craftsmanship.
You can listen to the track below and I would highly recommend getting out to the show this Friday. Rinehart has worked hard at his art and it’s apparent in the quality of his efforts here. You can pre-order the album here or wait for it to pop up on bandcamp and buy it here once it’s released. Rinehart is returning to Louisville soon, and we should be proud and excited to call him our own.
