The NEVER NERVOUS guide to RECORD STORE DAY



Holy shit! Record Store Day is upon us! And as you’d expect, there is plenty goin’ on, even more so than the past few years. This Saturday (4/19), all of your favorite Louisville record shops will open up early ready to sell you limited-release records, but only as long as their inventory allows! In other words, you’d better get in line early, asshole! So, to help you out, I put together a quick list of special RSD related events below:

ASTRO BLACK BLOCK PARTY
1000 E. Oak Street
ALL AGES, FREE!
Featuring performances by Animal City, Anwar Sadat, Billy Petot (of Whistle Peak), Kal Marks, Microwaves, Scott Carney, and a patio reading by writer/filmmaker/musician Dakota Loesch. GUESTROOM
1806 Frankfort Avenue
ALL AGES, FREE!
The will have over 350 limited, special release RSD titles on order and all non-RSD releases (i.e. pretty much everything else) will be 10% off the regular listed price. The party will start in the afternoon with performances from Sleepyhead and Night Visions Radio, and will wrap up later with Mote and Second Story Man. MODERN CULT

ALL AGES, FREE!
These guys will open shop at 8AM with plenty of RSD related releases, and later at 8PM will be hosting a Record Store Day after party featuring performances from New Bravado and Opposable Thumbs. Check out the facebook event page for more information.

BETTER DAYS
1765 Bardstown Road
In addition to over 350 exclusive titles Better Days will have tons of product on the sidewalk including over 1,000 LPs, 1,000 cassettes, and vintage audio equipment. They also will have exclusively autographed product from a very special Louisville artist (whoever that is) and we will be giving away tickets to concerts at Louisville’s newest music venue the Mercury Ballroom and The Louisville Palace. In years passed this shop has always opened early and participated as part of RSD, but I can’t find any information on any special events. Check out their facebook page for any updates.
