Record Store Day details have been released

I don’t give much of a shit about Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter. Except the part when I’m allowed to be off work, of course. But an annual tradition that I deem noteworthy is Record Store Day, which is described as “a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.” In other words, on the same day in April, independent record shops all over the world will release a collection of limited-run releases from all kinds of bands/artists.

This year’s list of releases has been cut loose, and can be viewed here. At first glance, I see notable releases from band like CHVRCHES, Devo, Flaming Lips, Joy Division, Mastadon, Nirvana, The Notorious B.I.G., Pissed Jeans, The Pogues, Soundgarden, Tears For Fears, Type O Negative, Built To Spill, and many more.

Record Store Day will happen Saturday, April 19th, and promises to be well represented here in Louisville. Participating stores in Louisville include Better Days Records, Astro Black, Guestroom Records, Underground Sounds, The Great Escape, as well as Please & Thank You. Whoa, that’s a lot of quality record stores. Also, stay tuned for some important, exciting information regarding shows, parties, and after parties related to RSD…
