SHOW: Whistle Peak, Elephant Stone, and Shedding for Free!

Just a quick reminder that another fantastic installment in Rye’s Back Porch Session tonight, and you really have no excuse to go. Here are reasons why:

  • Psych mutants Elephant Stone, stop in Louisville on the way to meet up with The Black Angels on tour. Their press keeps talking about what a badass sitar player that homeboy in the band is, which is something you don’t see all that often. Also playing is the weirdo folk of Whistle Peak, and the drone pop of Shedding. So I guess it’s safe to say that there will be plenty of delay pedals and flangers on display here, which always makes me happy.
  • The weather is about as perfect as it gets, unless the wind picks up and starts blowing twenty dollar bills and fresh burritos into your hand. If it does, please at least buy me a burrito since you’ve clearly got the money. Or a libation. I like both.
  • It’s fucking free! As if the awesomeness of the weather wasn’t enough to help you get your skis shined up, you don’t even have to pay for it. And you could probably ride your bicycle there too, which is the double greatest because you could have a drink or two at Rye while you’re there, and not get a DUI. Not that I’m suggesting to ride under the influence, because that shit is stupid; I’m just saying that you can fit your bike in the back of a sober person’s car way easier than you can fit your car in the back of a sober person’s car. I know from experience.
  • Near where I practice, I was once confronted by a neighbor who with the realization that we were a band, offered that at any time we could come over and have a “session” at his place. I’m pretty sure that session was for Glaucoma Research, and that that guy was a scientist. So I can only assume that because this is also a session of sorts, that everyone involved will do there best to help science fight against Glaucoma.
